HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

I don't normally like to toot my own horn or bring attention to the fact that I am getting older, but this year I am making an exception!  1/21/10 I will be 40.  or 29 for the 11th time.  I'm a lot smart than I was in my teens and stronger (mentally, emotionally, not physically) than I was in my 20's.  My 30's seem like a blur.  Jazz was born when I was 29 and I have spent the last ten years watching my girls grown into wonderful young women.  They still have time to figure out who they are, but as I see them develop I am so proud to say I had a hand in it.

Friday night I will be celebrating with a close group of friends and family and I will, for a minute, admit my true age....but Saturday morning I'm going right back to being 29!

Living a whirlwind sort of life

So much is going on that I've (again) been neglecting the blog.  It's bound to happen but I promise I won't go away forever and sometimes I might even have something a bit insightful to share.  Here's the basic rundown of now.

I start my first class today.  Well, my first class that is considered part of nursing school. Pathopysiology.  I'm sure it's going to be fun.*

I start my new job on February 8.  I will be floating to several different departments within the hospital.  This will be a great position because I will be exposed to a lot and I will learn more than just what school is going to teach me.

My birthday is in one week.  Party pix will be forthcoming.  I'm looking forward to hanging out with friends and family and just having an overall good time!

*I have been assured that this class is in fact not fun and it's the hardest class of them all but I chose to have a positive attitude!

Time Sure Flies When You Are Having Fun

Lyric turns 15 tomorrow.  I can't even believe it.  She's a freshman in high school, talking about driver's ed, growing into a wonderful young woman.  But every once in a while I still see snippets of my baby girl.  I guess that never goes away because my mom told me yesterday that I am still her baby girl.  So during this super busy, canigeteverythingdoneandenjoytheholidays week, I wanted to wish Lyric a very Happy Birthday.  You'll always be my baby girl!

Pay It 40...a birthday gift to your favorite charity

Some of you may know that next year I will turn 40. I don't feel 40 and I don't think I look 40, but the calendar tells me it's true. I wanted to do something that wasn't about me. I wanted to figure out a way to give back. I wanted to make a difference, even if it's just a little one. I have a few friends that will be turning 40 soon as well. In order to make it less traumatic for us and a definite plus for somebody else, we came up with the "Pay It 40" campaign. Sort of a play on the "pay it forward". I will create a new blog/website with links for all the charities.

In the spirit of giving, I'd like to open up the Pay It 40 campaign to anybody who is turning 40 from November 1, 2009 to October 21, 2010. What you have to do is: 1) leave a comment here with your name and birthday, 2) chose your favorite charity (if you know a link, post that as well) and then when the new blog is up and running you can tell all your friends.

Let me know if you have any questions. Please feel free to share this information with others. I would LOVE to have 40 people participate.

Phriday Photo Phinish Phiesta...Grandparents

This picture is cute, funny and good for a laugh.

The scene- My nephews 3rd birthday party

The action - opening presents

The stars- the grandparents (my mom and ex step dad) both taking pictures,
so I had to take a picture of them.
I always forget to link back and tell you to go check out Candid Carrie...she's the one who started this Phriday Phree Phor All.
Afternoon Update: Also, I need to give a shout out the HUSKIES - our football team. They are undefeated this season. Tonight they play the TITANS- who are undefeated this season. HUGE. GAME. TONIGHT. Tonight of all nights. Duh, HSM3 premiers today. We are going to the 6:30 show. Then Lyric will be able to watch TV like a normal teenager- or at least as normal as a teenager can be. Right now she runs screaming out of the room because she doesn't want to know anything about the movie before she sees it. NOTHING. NOT ONE THING. Not a song, not a scene, not a costume. I was messing with her because she knows it is called "Senior Year" and she said she didn't want to know anything about it. LOL
I'll have a review for you soon, and maybe a photo or two of the kiddos standing in front of the poster.
GO HUSKIES! GO HUSKIES! GO HUSKIES!
