Strangers

Isn't it funny how strangers can quickly become friends? Or how we beat into our kids heads "don't talk to strangers" but "be nice"?? Thanks to Lucy Walsh and Rock the Cradle, one of my new favorite bands is Seceondhand Serenade. The kids bought me a CD of theirs for mother's day. (If you get a chance to check it out, Lucy did "Fall For You" on Rock the Cradle, and she did a super aweseome job.) Anyway, my second favorite song on the CD (so far) is called "Stranger". The words are very fitting for what I expect he was thinking about when he wrote the song, but I see a bit of a different meaning in the words. See below. I've highlighted the most meaningful parts.

Turn around, turn around and fire your eye in my direction
so there is a connection
I can't yeah, can't make a sound to somehow capture your attention
I'm staring at perfection
take a look at me so you can see
how beautiful you are
you call me a stranger
you say I'm a danger
but all thoughts are leaving you tonight
I'm broken and abandoned
you are an angel
making all my dreams come true tonight
I'm confident but I can't pretend I wasn't terrified to meet you
I knew you could see right through me
I saw my life flash right before my very eyes
and I knew jsut what we'd turn into
I was hoping that you could see
take a look at me so you can see
you call me a stranger
you say i'm a danger
but all these thoughts are leaving you tonight
I'm broken, abandoned
you are an angel
making all my dreams come true tonight.......

there's more, but it doesn't fit my "thought" as well as the beginning. this totally describes my feelings when I met Rick. I'm pretty sure that this is more of a love song. but those few lines are very powerful. I was a stranger to him. I was terrified. And I hope that he realizes how much his fans truly do appreciate him.
