Wow

Lynn's (at www.lynnslifeonline.blogspot.com ) got nothing on me. I haven't posted for 2 weeks. Considering school is done for me, I don't know what the problem is. Maybe it's just the let down from all that studying.

As you can see by the picture to the right, Rick Springfield has a new CD coming out this year. He was nice enough to play a couple of songs off that CD each night before the show in Milwaukee. I've already preordered my copy and you should too!

Sunday night started Lyric's daily rehearsals as her show starts performances next week. Nightly isn't so bad, for a couple of weeks, except they don't get done until 11....pm....and somebody (Fisher or I) have to go pick her up. I'm trying to keep track of what friends and family are going to come what nights and try to have somebody in the audience for her each night. I'm actually helping with concessions/product sales for at least 3 of the shows, so I'll be there, just not in the audience.

Strangers

Isn't it funny how strangers can quickly become friends? Or how we beat into our kids heads "don't talk to strangers" but "be nice"?? Thanks to Lucy Walsh and Rock the Cradle, one of my new favorite bands is Seceondhand Serenade. The kids bought me a CD of theirs for mother's day. (If you get a chance to check it out, Lucy did "Fall For You" on Rock the Cradle, and she did a super aweseome job.) Anyway, my second favorite song on the CD (so far) is called "Stranger". The words are very fitting for what I expect he was thinking about when he wrote the song, but I see a bit of a different meaning in the words. See below. I've highlighted the most meaningful parts.

Turn around, turn around and fire your eye in my direction
so there is a connection
I can't yeah, can't make a sound to somehow capture your attention
I'm staring at perfection
take a look at me so you can see
how beautiful you are
you call me a stranger
you say I'm a danger
but all thoughts are leaving you tonight
I'm broken and abandoned
you are an angel
making all my dreams come true tonight
I'm confident but I can't pretend I wasn't terrified to meet you
I knew you could see right through me
I saw my life flash right before my very eyes
and I knew jsut what we'd turn into
I was hoping that you could see
take a look at me so you can see
you call me a stranger
you say i'm a danger
but all these thoughts are leaving you tonight
I'm broken, abandoned
you are an angel
making all my dreams come true tonight.......

there's more, but it doesn't fit my "thought" as well as the beginning. this totally describes my feelings when I met Rick. I'm pretty sure that this is more of a love song. but those few lines are very powerful. I was a stranger to him. I was terrified. And I hope that he realizes how much his fans truly do appreciate him.

THANK YOU

Thank you. Two words. Eight letters. So much meaning. On Friday night, I was able to cross another thing off my "Lifetime To Do List". I met Rick Springfield. When I was turning away from him, I said "thank you". But how do you convey the fullness of the meaning with those two words. I was saying thank you for so many things.

Thank you for the photo. Thank you for the hug. Thank you for the autograph. Thank you for making the book. Thank you for performing. Thank you for entertaining. Thank you for being so nice. Thank you for sharing yourself with your fans. Thank you for being open, honest and funny. Thank you for taking time to do meet and greets. Thank you for coming to Milwaukee year after year. Thank you for loving what you do. Thank you for continuing to do it. Thank you for being the catalyst that brings people together and forms life long friendships. Thank you for being you.

Thank you, Rick, for everything. I hope that you realize how much you are appreciated. How much entertainment and fun you have brought to my life. Thank you for being the catalyst for so many wonderful memories. Thank you, Rick. thank you so much!

Rejected and accepted

A couple of months ago, Baby tried out for the Fine Art and Academic Academies in our school district. A month or so ago, we got the letters that she did not get in to either. This was heartbreaking news for us as well as her. She wanted to go there because Lyric did, and she has had some social issues, so she wanted to try something new.

Yesterday, we got a new letter. There is an opening in the Academic Academy if she wants it. YEAH! We're so excited. It will mean a new school and new friends, but a different experience from what Lyric did. (Lyric was in Fine Arts) It will hopefully be a positive change for her.

Okay, I'm off to Milwaukee now. I might come home tomorrow having met Rick Springfield. cross your fingers.

Today is....

The first day of FREAKFEST 2008. (Otherwise known as 5 Rick Springfield concerts in a row) To those heading to,arriving in, and partying around Milwaukee- I'm jealous. Only a little though. I try hard not to be too jealous, because I do believe that good things happen to me more often than bad things. I do believe that whinners get bad karma, and I try to see the good side of anything.

So, have fun in Milwaukee. I'll be there Friday. It will be fun. I'm looking forward to meeting some people I have only E-talked to, and reconnecting with those I have met in the past.

somebody save me a seat at the bar!
